Expect to have some bruising and swelling, the amount you have is individual. This will settle over the following few week. Some temporary weakness of the brow can occur, but will generally settle over the next three week period. You will usually go home the next day after the operation.
The wound needs to be kept dry for the first 24 hours. After that gentle hair washing with a mild shampoo is recommended.
To help with swelling we recommend you sleep with your head elevated. Raise the head of your bed or sleep on 2 – 3 pillows.
A facial support garment will be given to you whilst in hospital. We recommend you wear this continuously for the first two weeks. You must remove it for showering.
We recommend you do not take aspirin or anything that contains aspirin for 2 weeks before your operation and 1 week after your operation.
First Post Operative Appointment
We will see you in the rooms 4 – 5 days post operatively to check on your progress. The staples/stiches will be removed one week post operatively.
Second Post Operative Appointment
Your next post operative visit will then be scheduled for removal of remaining suture/staples. Expect bruising, swelling and numbness of the face, the amount is individual. This will settle over the following weeks. Camouflage make up can help to disguise bruising if necessary.
Rest is very important after your operation. We recommend no strenuous exercise for 6 weeks. You will need to take approximately 2
weeks off work and we recommend that important events/holidays are scheduled for a least 6 weeks – 3 months after your operation.
